IM Welcomes Gabriella Fredriksson as Its New Secretary General

Categories:

IM has appointed a new Secretary General – Gabriella Fredriksson. With extensive experience in human rights and a strong commitment to inclusion and justice, she is taking over the leadership of IM. On April 22, she will step into her new role, ready to continue working with the organization for a better world.

Gabriella Fredriksson has a long and solid background in human rights, with experience from the nonprofit sector, government agencies, academia, and business. She has previously served as Senior Advocacy Officer at Save the Children, Global Head of Inclusive Societies at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, and most recently as Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Leader at IKEA Sweden. She holds a law degree and is based in Lund.

– I take on the mission of leading IM into the future with great humility, pride, and energy, together with the entire team – employees, members, volunteers, and partners. In Britta’s spirit, we will continue to make a difference and create opportunities for a better world for all, says Gabriella.

IM’s Chair, Nina Åxman, emphasizes the importance of strong leadership in challenging times:

– With Gabriella, we gain an inclusive, communicative, and engaging leader who can guide IM forward in a turbulent time, when democracy and basic human decency are under attack. Our strength is needed now more than ever!

As Gabriella begins her role in April, she looks forward to meeting employees, members, volunteers, and partners, especially at IM’s annual meeting in Malmö, Sweden, on May 10–11. Anders Berg will continue as Acting Secretary General until Gabriella takes office.

We have great confidence in IM’s future under Gabriella’s leadership and warmly welcome her!
