IM’s Ramadan Initiative for Gaza and Muslim Engagement

Ahead of Ramadan and Eid, IM is launching a campaign with a special focus on the work carried out by our partners in Gaza. Through this initiative, we not only want to contribute to life-saving efforts in the region but also strengthen our connection with the Swedish Muslim community.

As part of the campaign, we will:

• Publish an opinion piece from one of our partners in Gaza on Alkompis, a news site aimed at Arabic speakers in Sweden.
• Launch an Arabic-language landing page to share information about our work.
• Collaborate with influencers who have a Muslim audience.
• Run an advertising campaign and partner with Alkompis.

“For us at IM, strengthening our relationship with the Swedish Muslim community is essential, as we share values of justice, human rights, and international aid,” says Simon Marke Gran, Acting Head of Fundraising. “The Muslim culture of giving, with traditions such as zakat and sadaqah, opens doors for new donors and collaborations. Including Muslim voices strengthens the diversity and credibility of civil society. Our work in Muslim-majority countries, such as Palestine, can gain greater support through engagement from Swedish Muslims.”

IM also recognises the importance of building legitimacy in issues of discrimination and human rights by working more closely with Muslim organisations. We hope this campaign will be a step towards a long-term and deeper collaboration for a more just world.
