Partner with us
How IM Selects Partners
At IM, partnerships are at the heart of how we create change. We believe in the strength of local civil society and work closely in each country to identify organizations that share our vision and values. We actively seek partners who are rooted in their context, represent the voices of communities, and drive meaningful social change.
A Mutual Process
Partnership for us is never one-sided. We see it as a relationship of trust, learning, and value on both sides. Just as we hope to strengthen our partners, we also expect that they will challenge, inspire, and enrich our work. In other words: we grow stronger together.
What We Look For
When considering new partnerships, we look at both alignment and potential for impact. Some of the key aspects include:
- Shared vision and focus: Strong alignment with IM’s strategy, particularly on strengthening livelihoods and advancing the rights of women and youth.
- Roots in society: Representation of social movements, grassroots initiatives, or overlooked agents of change with legitimacy in their communities.
- Contribution to the bigger picture: Ability to complement existing partners, bring fresh perspectives, and strengthen the wider ecosystem of change.
- Leadership and accountability: Transparent, democratic, and accessible leadership.
- Engagement with rights-holders: A proven or promising ability to mobilize and empower communities.
- Capacity to grow: Potential for IM to contribute meaningfully to organizational development, including through core funding for long-term sustainability.
