Asociación Nuevo Amanecer de El Salvador (Anades)
IM has supported Anades since its inception in 1989. The organization was founded to support orphaned children who lost their parents during the civil war. Today, it supports quality education for children from a rights-based perspective. Anades also offers parenting education on raising children without violence, works to empower women economically, and conducts workshops on human rights and food security. Anades also runs a preschool that helps women balance work and family responsibilities.
Colectivo Alejandria
Colectivo Alejandría is an organization that works for the rights of LGBTQI+ people. They focus on influencing society, raising awareness, and educating to improve access to education and employment opportunities for gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex individuals. They also work toward a stronger national response to HIV. Their vision is a society without stigma and discrimination, where everyone has equal opportunities for education, work, and social security.
Coincidir
Coincidir is a youth network for individuals under 29, working on sexual and reproductive health (SRHR). The network is founded on the belief that SRHR is a fundamental human right for the country’s youth. Their primary focus is advocacy at various levels within the country, based on empowering youth and their participation in alliance with other strategic actors.
Colectiva Feminista
Colectiva Feminista is a feminist civil society organization working for sexual and reproductive health (SRHR), human rights, and women’s rights. The organization has a wide range of mediation levels, from community-based work with women to national and international advocacy efforts. La Colectiva consists of many different networks and alliances of social movements, operating at both the local, national, and international levels.
La Concertación de Mujeres de Suchitoto (La Concerta)
Concerta is a women’s organization in Cuscatlán, El Salvador, founded in 1991 after the civil war to support women affected by violence. They started by teaching women how to read and advocating for women’s land rights. Since 2013, they have been an official organization based in Suchitoto. They work for women’s social and economic rights, food sovereignty, cooperatives, political participation, and water rights. Concerta collaborates with other organizations and influences local decisions to improve women’s living conditions.
Fundación Red de Sobrevivientes
Red de Sobrevivientes supports people with disabilities and their families to gain more control over their lives by strengthening their economic empowerment. They offer job-seeking courses and serve as a link between employers and job-seekers with disabilities. Red de Sobrevivientes also supports local savings clubs where the target group participates. IM started collaborating with the group in 2016, and they are one of the organizations involved in the Humanium Metal by IM project.
UNES
UNES (Unidad Ecológica Salvadoreña) is an environmental organization that has worked for over 30 years in El Salvador and Central America. They focus on food sovereignty, ecofeminism, and nature conservation to combat climate change. UNES works at the local, national, and regional levels to spread knowledge and strengthen people’s right to defend the environment.
